Welcome to Rijeka

Who are we? What connects us what makes us citizens of Rijeka? How do others see us? How do we see ourselves? What is it we like about ourselves and what would we change?  Why is it that sometimes we wish to leave forever, and when we do we can bearly wait to come back? Do we really want to change and do we want to know who is it we wish to become? “DDR” does not attempt to respond to these complex questions, rather

it aims simply to provoke the audience to critically think through their own identy and the mentality of the community we live in. This is a theatre performance for a specific location (the railway station Pećine, the train  Zagreb-Rijeka, the main railway station in Rijeka) by which we aim to question the phenomena of mentality, its origins and its roots to specific areas. Because the project participants are from Rijeka, the focus of interest in DDR is the “Rijeka mentality” in both its positive as well as negative appearing forms.  The performance is a multimedia project originating at the railway station Pećine where the audience is welcomed by the performers after which the train arrives to the main railway station in Rijeka where the majority of the performance takes place. The intention of the creative team was to introduce to newcomers Rijeka, its citizens, its mentality…
